's winters eten wij vaak spruitjes...

It's Autumn and finally, it is starting to feel like it. I don't really have a favorite season. I always seem to love the one coming up or just beginning the most. I love it when one season transitions into the next. I love the change in weather, in food, and just in the overall mood.

Here's one of my favorite Autumn/ Winter food: roasted Brussels Sprouts. They're so simple but so perfect. We never ate these growing up, neither of my parents liked them growing up so I guess they though they were doing us a favor by not serving them. Even living in the Netherlands we never ate "spruitjes" so it's only recently that I've fallen in love.

It's really one of the easiest things you will ever cook. All you need is olive oil, salt, pepper, and sprouts.
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
Step 2: Cut sprouts in half

Step 3:Mix with a few sloshes of Olive Oil, tons of salt, and a good amount of freshly ground peppercorn.
Step 4: put on baking sheet and bake at 400 for about 40 minutes, turning over half way.
They may not look all that great, but these things are so tasty. Crispy on the outside, supple on the inside and you don't even have to pull up the recipe because it's only 4 ingredients!

P.S.- Major props to whoever recognized the KVK song referenced in the title.
